Natural Unintelligence

There is a 0% chance that our trees will steal your job.

They can’t even read.

We Know. It’s Ridiculous.

But we shamelessly wanted to get your attention to tell you that the trees aren’t sophisticated…

The forestry is.

But we shamelessly wanted to get your attention to tell you that the trees aren’t sophisticated…

The forestry is.

Modern forestry combines decades of planning, advanced science and technology, and a commitment to keeping forests healthy and productive for generations.

Turns out, forestry

has changed a lot.

We still use chainsaws. We also use satellites, drones, and yes... AI.

Modern forest management draws on remote sensing, forest inventories, wildlife science, water monitoring, genetics, mapping and modeling to understand what is happening across millions of acres and make better decisions over time.

Forests Can
Multitask.

Working forests do more than one job. A well-managed forest can support environmental benefits while also growing renewable materials people use every day.

Clean Water

Forests help filter water, protect watersheds, and support healthy streams.

Wildlife Habitat

Working forests provide habitat across large, connected landscapes.

Carbon Benefits

The trees in working forests are very good at capturing and storing carbon as they grow.

Renewable Materials

Wood for homes, packaging, and thousands of other everyday products.

Some business plans are measured in quarters. Ours can be measured in generations.

Trees take decades to grow. So do the decisions that shape a forest.

NAFO members manage forests with the next harvest, the next generation of trees, and the long-term health of the land in mind. That time horizon changes how you think about stewardship: what happens today has to ensure there are still healthy, resilient forests decades from now.

Yes, there are actual people
behind the trees.

Yes, there are actual people behind the trees.

NAFO is the National Alliance Forest Owners.

We represent private working forest owners that manage working forests across the United States. Their job is to keep forests healthy, productive, and growing for generations to come.

Fun fact: we've been discreetly photoshopping Bigfoot into our photos since 2017.

We're waiting for someone to notice.
